Chickweed has been used as a folk remedy for centuries for many conditions, including asthma, blood disorders, conjunctivitis, constipation, inflammation, dyspepsia, skin ailments, and obesity. Chickweed extract has been used internally as a demulcent, but is more typically used externally for the treatment of rashes and sores. The young shoots are edible and have been used as salad greens. In homeopathy, the plant is used to help relieve rheumatic pains and psoriasis.

Chickweed is known as a skin rejuvenator in the world of contemporary herbalism. It has a cooling and drying effect on wounds, bites and minor burns. As an astringent, Chickweed can be used draw out splinters and help to heal the wound left behind.

With anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antifungal properties, infusions of Chickweed can be used to help treat a number of skin complaints including; boils, sores, rashes, wounds, eczema and psoriasis. It will also relieve the itching and inflammation that accompanies many of these conditions.

I harvested the chickweed from my organically grown garden and I infused it with olive oil and sunflower oil organic. All of my Oils are double infused and cure for up to 6 weeks or a little longer, making for a more powerful salve cold pressed.

  HOW TO USE: As needed

Rarely, chickweed can cause allergic skin reactions. Allergy sensitive individuals should try a small amount first before using this herb as a medicine on a patch of skin.
