Burdock root (genus Arctium) is a genus of biennial plants in the Asteraceae (daisy) family that’s native to Northern Asia and Europe. The burdock plant’s deep roots are very long and vary in color from beige to brown and nearly black on the outside.
Burdock root has been shown to contain multiple types of powerful antioxidants, including quercetin, luteolin, and phenolic acids. Burdock root effectively detoxified blood and promoted increased circulation in the surface of the skin. Burdock root helps induce lymphatic drainage and detoxification. Burdock may have “potent inhibitory effects” on cancer growth caused by cancers like pancreatic carcinoma.
Burdock root is as an aphrodisiac it may have an aphrodisiac effect. Burdock root has also long been used to treat skin conditions like acne and eczema. Diuretics stimulate the kidneys and help the body get rid of excess fluid, mainly water and sodium. Burdock root contains inulin, a soluble and prebiotic fiber that helps improve digestion and lower blood sugar.
HOW TO USE: 1 tsp of dried herb 1 cup of water bring to a boil for 10min then let it steep for 5 min. Strain and enjoy.
