Bakuchiol is a natural retinol alternative that promises skin transformation without the negative-side effects of retinol. Research has shown that amounts between 0.5-2% are ideal to get visible benefits.
Bakuchiol is derived from the Babchi plant and has a different chemical structure than retinol. Though structurally different, it is considered a true retinol alternative because clinical studies show that it functions similarly to retinol when applied to the skin. The upside is that Bakuchiol does not cause the same negative side-effects as retinol. Some of retinol’s most common side-effects include redness, irritation, dryness, and peeling.
Unlike retinol, bakuchiol can be used during the day without concern for photosensitivity. However, we recommend incorporating it into your evening routine, when skin has switched over from defense to repair mode.
Rosehip seed oil which promotes healthy skin cell rejuvenation, reduces the depth of wrinkles, fades fine lines, and lightens age spots. Vitamin C is a skin brightening, anti-aging antioxidant that helps improve the appearance of pigmentation and restore skin's tone. Sun exposure plays a role in decreased collagen, which vitamin C can help counteract. Over time, the vitamin C also helps reduce the appearance of dark spots, aging spots and hyper-pigmentation. Beta-carotene is another antioxidant found naturally in rosehip oil that helps prevent free-radical damage responsible for skin aging.
Yucca root also contains a concentrated dose of both vitamin C and manganese, two micronutrients that can also help minimize oxidative stress. It’s packed with vitamin C, a nutrient involved in the synthesis of collagen that is believed to have anti-aging properties. Vitamin C can also protect against sun damage by scavenging harmful free radicals and has even been shown to suppress melanin production to aid in the prevention of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Jojoba oil is a botanical substance, its makeup is so similar to the oil (sebum) your body naturally produces that your skin can’t tell the difference.
This makes it less likely to build up on your skin and clog your pores, leading to fewer breakouts and less severe acne.
Evening primrose oil has many properties that are beneficial to the health of your skin. Not only does evening primrose oil moisturize and soothe, it can enhance the texture and elasticity of skin, addressing dryness, irritation, roughness and wrinkles.
Apricot oil is light and easily absorbed because it resembles the skin's naturally-produced oil sebum. Apricot oil helps to improve skin tone, maintain softness and radiance of the skin. It also nourishes the skin and lowers the appearance of face wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes (that's the Vitamin C and E working in partnership).
